Demand Intelligence
Launching soonSee every store's market before you open or close one.
Demand Intelligence is a new Hylios product for the teams that decide where stores go. Type a brand and see every store's trade areas at 5, 10 and 20 miles, the people and households inside them, where stores overlap, and how the whole network adds up. Screen a new site or a closure, and plan an expansion with a verdict you can read. It starts from public data, and every number shows its source.
It is launching soon. We are building it now, and early-access teams get in first.
At launch, accounts are set up by our team, not by card sign-up.
Who it is for
Anyone who has to explain where a chain's customers are, and what a store change does to them.
Retail and franchise real estate teams
Read the market around every store in your chain, test a new site against the stores you already have, and see where a closure's demand goes.
CRE brokers and tenant-rep firms
Bring a client a clear picture of its trade areas and the brands around it, with every number labeled by its source.
Franchisors
See how your locations share the same customers and how the whole network adds up before you add the next one.
Consumer private equity and consulting analysts
Look up any chain's store footprint, trade areas and demographics from public data for a screen or an investment memo.
Supply chain and store operations leaders
Run a network study of your own store network, with dollar figures only where every input is yours.
What you can do with it
Five jobs, each with its own starting point. The one that is not built yet is marked as coming.
Know a company's market
Type a brand. Every store gets trade areas at 5, 10 and 20 miles, with the population, households and median income inside them. See where stores overlap and how much of each area is contested, roll the whole network up into one view, and export it as CSV.
Screen a site or a closure
Drop a pin and see the incremental capture: the demand a new store would add to the network, with overlap removed so nothing is counted twice. Close a store and see where its demand goes.
Plan an expansion
Build a siting plan for the chain, with its calibration and backtest shown beside it. Every plan carries one verdict: trusted, caveated or withheld. A caveated plan says what the caveat is. A withheld plan shows nothing downstream.
Compare two companies
ComingPut two chains side by side: coverage, whitespace, and the zip codes they contest. This view is planned and not built yet.
Study your own store network
For supply chain and store operations leaders. See how much of your market your stores cover, which stores qualify for the role you are studying, how store configurations compare (company-owned and franchised, for example), and straight-line and road-network results side by side. Dollar figures appear only in a calculator where every input is your own.
How it keeps every number honest
These are product rules, built into what the screens can show, not fine print.
- Every number wears a badge. It says whether the number is real, published, measured, modeled or illustrative.
- Every panel shows its data vintage. You can see which release of the public store data, which census year, which year of income statistics and which road network snapshot a panel was built from.
- Miles, measured on the road. Road-network trade areas are measured in road miles, never presented as drive time.
- No foot-traffic data. Hylios does not use foot-traffic data in Demand Intelligence, ever.
- No site-level recommendation. We tested whether the site-level layer predicts where a chain opens. It did not, so we do not show it to anyone as a recommendation.
- A store count that fails the check is never shown silently. Each company's store count is checked for accuracy when it is generated. If it fails, the company is set aside as needing a store list, and the page tells you why.
- Nothing you generate is public. There is no public gallery and no public index of the companies you study.
- The decision stays yours. Hylios does not tell you what to decide. It shows the trade-offs and leaves the choice with you.
Studying another company
You can look up any brand's trade areas, overlap and demographics, whether it is your own chain, a competitor or an acquisition target.
A network study of another company is allowed at the aggregate level only. It shows coverage and counts. It never carries that company's site-level detail, and it carries no dollar figures, because the inputs would be another company's economics that you cannot vouch for. Site-level detail is only for your own company.
Where the data comes from
Demand Intelligence starts from public data: public store data, census demographics, income statistics and the road network. No integration project is needed to start. You type a brand. It follows the same rule as the rest of Hylios: start fast from public data, and show where every number came from.
Looking at a company's supply chain rather than its stores? Deal Intelligence builds outside-in supply chain diligence on an acquisition target.
Common questions
What is Hylios Demand Intelligence?
A Hylios product for the teams that decide where stores open, close and compete. Type a brand to see every store's trade areas at 5, 10 and 20 miles, the demographics inside them, where stores overlap, and a rollup of the whole network. You can screen a new site or a closure, plan an expansion that carries a stated verdict, and study your own store network. It is launching soon.
When can I use it, and how does early access work?
It is being built now and launches soon. Request early access with the form on this page. At launch, accounts are set up by the Hylios team rather than through a card sign-up, and early access starts with an evaluation account for your team.
How are trade areas measured?
In miles, at 5, 10 and 20 miles around each store. Road-network trade areas are measured in road miles, never presented as drive time. Every panel shows the vintage of the data it was built from.
Where does the data come from?
Public store data, census demographics, income statistics and the road network. Hylios does not use foot-traffic data. Every number carries a badge saying whether it is real, published, measured, modeled or illustrative.
Can I study a competitor or an acquisition target?
Yes. You can look up any brand's trade areas, overlap and demographics. A network study of another company is allowed at the aggregate level only: it never carries that company's site-level detail, and it carries no dollar figures. Site-level detail is only for your own company.
Will it tell me which site to pick?
No. We tested whether the site-level layer predicts where a chain opens, and it did not, so it is not shown as a recommendation. You can screen any site you choose, and every expansion plan carries one verdict: trusted, caveated or withheld. A withheld plan shows nothing downstream.
