The signal

Regional leaders gathered at the Beira Corridor Forum acknowledged that expanding the Beira-Feruka pipeline to 5 million cubic metres annually by 2027 must be paired with complementary infrastructure investments in storage, port capacity, transport systems, and border procedures.

Without coordinated development across these areas, the pipeline expansion will fail to deliver reliable fuel supply improvements for Zambia, Malawi, Botswana, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Fuel demand in the region is projected to rise 35 percent over the next decade, creating both opportunity and urgency for integrated corridor development led by public-private partnerships and cross-border coordination.
