ICE Expands Immigration Enforcement in Three States Via Highway Patrols

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has expanded partnerships with state law enforcement agencies in Indiana, Oklahoma, and Wyoming under the 287(g) Task Force Model, allowing trained local officers to enforce immigration regulations during routine commercial vehicle inspections and traffic stops. Wyoming Highway Patrol has already deployed 17 troopers under an agreement signed in July 2025, with officers able to detain drivers found to be in the country illegally and transfer them to ICE custody. This expansion reflects a broader federal and state enforcement trend targeting unqualified commercial drivers, fraudulent commercial driver's license programs, and immigration violations discovered during roadside operations.

For supply chain and trucking operations, these expanded partnerships introduce new compliance risks and potential operational disruptions.
