The signal
Scan Global Logistics, a Danish freight intermediary, has agreed to acquire Oregon-based OIA Global in what the company describes as its largest investment to date. This strategic move positions Scan among the world's top 20 freight forwarders and significantly expands its North American footprint and service capabilities across freight forwarding, customs brokerage, contract logistics, and project management.
The acquisition reflects accelerating consolidation in the logistics industry as the freight cycle strengthens in 2024, following Scan's aggressive expansion strategy that includes prior acquisitions of Werner Enterprises' international division (2021) and ITN Logistics Group in Canada. OIA Global, founded in 1988 with over 1,200 employees across 60+ offices in 30 countries and $780 million in annual revenue, adds substantial scale and geographic reach to Scan's existing operations of 5,100+ employees across 200+ offices worldwide.
The deal is expected to close in Q1 2027, subject to regulatory approvals, and will create a more comprehensive supply chain solutions provider capable of serving complex, multinational customer networks.
