The signal

Strait Link, a Bass Strait shipping company formerly known as Toll Shipping, has agreed to acquire Monson Logistics, a significant Tasmanian freight and logistics business founded in 1992. The acquisition strengthens Strait Link's regional presence, combining the buyer's domestic shipping capabilities with Monson's deep community roots and specialist international logistics expertise.

Monson Logistics currently operates 65 prime movers across four depots in Burnie, Bell Bay, Hobart, and Melbourne, employing approximately 100 people. Strait Link estimates it handles 80-90 percent of international freight entering Tasmania, and this deal expands its footprint by adding a complementary operation with 34 years of proven market presence.

The transaction is expected to close within coming months, with Monson Logistics continuing as a standalone business under its existing name and no planned changes to staff or customer operations.
